On July 30, 2024, the Angolan Presidency announced a ceasefire agreement between Kinshasa and Rwanda. Despite this, the inept supporters of Criminal Kagame will claim that the Rwanda Defence Force is not present in the DRC. However, as we have consistently noted, M23 is merely a pseudonym for the RDF.
The ceasefire is set to commence at midnight on August 4, 2024, according to a statement from the Angolan presidency. It will be monitored by an existing Ad Hoc mechanism, which will be further strengthened.
The decision followed discussions between Congolese Foreign Minister Thérèse Kayikwamba Wagner and her Rwandan counterpart, Olivier Nduhungirehe, facilitated by the Angolan government.
Significantly, the U.S. Director of National Intelligence, Avril Haines, has brokered three different ceasefire deals between Rwanda and the DRC. These agreements include the current ceasefire, which started on July 5, 2024, was renewed on July 19, 2024, and is set to conclude on August 3, 2024.
Returning to the critical question: Why does Rwanda continually sign ceasefire agreements in a conflict they consistently deny involvement in? To be succinct, there is no M23; it is Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) operating under the guise of M23. M23 has never existed as an independent entity; it is merely the Rwanda Defence Force combined with a few opportunistic Congolese.
