Below Drone images showing units of Rwanda Defence Force inside DR Congo territory. These images were shared by DR Congo government.
Don’t be mistaken by Kibumba withdraw, RDF-M23 objectives are still the same. As a middle ranking officer within Rwanda Defence Force told me yesterday evening, “Kibumba – Goma axis was a defensive axis not offensive axis. We have merely withdrawn our frontline defence to 15KM. You should concentrate on Afande’s biggest price – Masisi, this should be your focus rather than one defensive hill of Kibumba where we have created a buffer zone with regional force deploying between us and FARDC. Put the eyes on Masisi operation with some units within this axis to branch for Sake. Or put your eyes on Ishasha-Kisenyi axis. Our aim from the start has never been Goma, urban warfare in town, deaths due to urban warfare and displaced people in Goma would attract noises from western capitals. Our military objectives since November 2021 to present haven’t changed, and if it does I will let you know. At the moment, we’re just cautious.”
