In a new development in Niger, the Transitional leadership led by the National Council for the Safeguarding of the homeland (CNSP), have nominated Mr Ali Mahamane Lamine Zeine, a renowned economist, as the new Prime Minister.

This appointment marks a crucial step as General Abdourahmane Tchani, the new president of Niger, entrusts Mr Zeine with a major responsibility of guiding, orchestrating and heading policies, visions and strategies of the new regime in Niger.
A former finance minister of Niger, Mr Ali Mahamane Lamine Zeine is currently the African Development Bank (AfDB) representative in Chad.
