One of dictator Paul Kagame’s classmate at Ntare school, Lt Col Benon Kazoora died on Thursday, May 21, 2020 at Nakasero Hospital after a two year battle with cancer. Lt Col Benon Kazoora is a brother to Major John Kazoora.
Since the end of NRM/A liberation struggle in 1986, Lt Col Benon Kazoora was deployed in External Security Organisation (ESO). He was a season spy master, and excellent at his job. Lt Col Benon Kazoora was one of the longest serving military officer at External Security Organisation (ESO), heading different departments within the organisation.
Lt Col Benon Kazoora, alongside dictator Paul Kagame, with other few military officers were sent to Cuba by Uganda’s ministry of defence for intelligence training, specialising in counter intelligence. Lt Col Benon Kazoora was a graduate from Moscow university and he spoke fluent Russian. In the early 1990s, he served as a Minister Counsellor at Uganda’s embassy in Moscow.
For those of us who knew him, we used to refer him as uncle Benon, he was a mentor to many of us, totally down to earth with a kind heart to help and support. And if there are people that Lt Col Kazoora knew very well, dictator Paul Kagame was among them. He knew Kagame as a classmate at Ntare school, during NRA struggle, working in Uganda military after the NRA liberation struggles, during Cuba and Libya military intelligence training.
Today, May 23, 2020, the down to earth military officer, Lt Col Benon Kazoora will be laid to rest at his home in Rutooma, Kashari.
My sincere condolences goes to his family and his two sons.
RIP uncle Benon, Bugolobi residents will dearly miss you.
