Kagame Is Shutting Down Schools, Churches, And Sports — Rwanda Is Now Eligible For Donor Support From World Bank’s US$12 Billion Special Fund And IMF’s Catastrophe Containment and Relief Trust.

Finally, General Paul Kagame is doing the right thing — and taking coronavirus seriously. He is shutting down schools, universities, churches and sports. With this action, Rwanda can access donor support. For example, the World Bank has a package of US$12 billion to support the efforts of developing countries to strengthen health systems and minimize the harm to people and economy.

As the World Bank explained, ”these are testing times for policymakers: they must rise to the occasion by acting quickly, decisively, and in collaboration.” The International Monetary Fund’s Catastrophe Containment and Relief Trust (CCRT) aims at helping countries deal with the short term economic disruption caused by coronavirus. The UK has contributed to CCRT £150 million. Hopefully, Kagame will stop destroying poor people’s homes as he has been going on and focus on coronavirus.
