Initially, the Expanded Joint Verification Mechanism (EJVM) was commissioned to carry out investigations apparently using Google maps to pin point the boundaries separating the DRC and Rwanda, in an effort to determine which army is crossing over the other’s border; but it’s mandate was gradually expanded in scope to include all countries in Great Lakes region as other countries in the Great Lakes region started complaining about Rwanda’s interferences on internal matters of its neighbouring countries.
