This Thursday, August 17, 2023, in Luanda, Angola, the 43rd SADC summit started in the presence of region’s Heads of State and Members of Governments.

In an excerpt from his speech, the outgoing President of this organization, Félix Tshisekedi, Head of State of the DRC, suggested that it’s a must for all member countries to ensure the aspirations of SADC citizens, namely sustainable economic well-being, justice and freedom.

According to Félix Tshisekedi, this therefore means that the Heads of Member States must relentlessly deploy their energies and channel their resources towards the realization and aspirations advocated by founders of this organisation, SADC.

To achieve this, he calls for the organization of “Miss SADC” and “SADC Games” to accelerate fraternity between children in the region.

“The joy of our generation will certainly be even greater the day when include cultural activities, such as “Miss SADC”, “SADC Games”, and this will accelerate the brotherhood between our children and our grandchildren across our borders, in a fully pacified and prosperous region”, pleaded the outgoing President of SADC.

Thus he launched “let us all reflect on the progress we have made as a Region so that our children can live in an even better Region than the one we inherited from our Founders”.

It should be noted that Félix Tshisekedi will cede his mandate at the end of this 43rd summit and Angolan President Joäo Lourenço will take the baton as new SADC president.

The theme of this Summit is “Human and financial capital, the main vector of sustainable industrialization in the SADC region”.
